Piraeus, Jul 24 — Passenger ro/ro Evia Star (1923 gt, built 1980) sustained a mechanical failure while sailing from Rafina on Jul 14. There was no injury or water pollution. On completion of repairs and class inspection, the vessel sailed from Rafina today. — Lloyd’s Agents.

Piraeus, Jul 24 — Passenger ro/ro Evia Star sustained failure of the starboard main engine while sailing from Rafina to Marmari on Jul 23 (previously reported Jul 14). On board were 168 passengers, three trucks, 42 cars and three motorcycles. Following the incident, the vessel continued the voyage with reduced speed and arrived safely at Marmaris, where departure was prohibited, pending class inspection of the repairs. — Correspondent.

Delivered in march 1980 to Kyoei Unyu K.K., Hakodate, Hokkaido Pref, Japan, the then ship’s name is HAYABUSA no 3

1/2000: Sold to Marmari Shipping Corp, Pireaus, Greece.

2001: The ship is renamed EVIA STAR

2001: Set on Rafina-Marmari/Karistos line, but nowadays she is only sailing serveral times a day between Rafina and Marmari

2/2007: Annual refit (dry-dock in Perama)
