Since 2005 when we moved to Karystos there has been a tugboat on the waterfront. In 2005 it was moored at the old Karystos shipyard, which has since been relocated down the road after the port renovation. The tugboat was then moved to the dock on the north end of the port. Continue reading

Steamer Sunk in Karystros Bay
Friday April 25, 1941
Greek steamer DIMITRIOS NOMIKOS (1171grt) was sunk by German bombing at Karystos, Euboea.
The steamer was raised by the Germans and repaired for their use.

The Legend of the Dritsas Bell
Around 1909 Stamati Dritsas was working on the spring located above Marmari, a short distance from his house at the base of Agios Constandinos.
He says that he heard his wife Paraskevi calling him so he left the spring to return to the house to see what she wanted. She said that she did not call him so he returned to the spring. As he neared the spring, it collapsed.
